  • Airflow Switches
    The Rotron Model 2C Airflow Switch is actuated by air velocity rather than air pressure. It is designed for easy mounting on the outside of an air duct with a small light weight stainless steel vane protruding through a hole in the duct into the airstream. The switch can be used as interlock for on off purposes or as a marginal safety device where the electrical contacts are operated at a predetermined minimum flow air.
    The switch is designed for commercial applications but has been used satisfactorily on certain military projects. Its acceptability on military projects is left to the evaluation of the purchaser.
    Operates reliably in ambient temperatures of 35ºC to +85ºC.
Blowers
  • Centrifugal Blowers
    Rotron centrifugal blowers are compact, sturdy, and relatively light in weight. They are designed for high performance while providig a long, maintenance-free life. Most models are available for either clockwise or counter­clockwise rotation, and in either simplex or duplex types. Models are available with 50/60 or 400 Hz AC motors.
    Centrifugal blowers develop high pressure-to-volume performance at low rotational speeds for quiet cooling of tightly packaged electronic equipment under severe environmental conditions in airborne, ground based, and shipboard applications.
    Simplex blowers have 1 squirrel cage impeller wheel while Duplex blowers have 2 squirrel cage impeller wheels mounted on a common shaft - both are available for either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation. Duplex blowers simplify ductwork and allow greater volume performance in tight locations. As with all squirrel cage blowers, air enters axially and exits tangentially, making a 90 degree turn.
  • Inverted Blowers
    Trimline inverted blowers are compact, sturdy, and relatively light in weight. Inverted blowers have the unique Rotron inverted drive motor located inside the squirrel cage wheel. This results in unusual compactness and excellent motor cooling. Models are available in in a variety of Brushless DC and AC (50/60 or 400Hz) voltages Trimlines are compact and quiet designs for cooling electronic enclosures under severe environmental conditions in airborne, ground based and shipboard applications. They are well suited for applications when it is desirable to have air exit tangentially from a thin blower package and high pressure to volume ratio performance is required.
  • Centraxial Blowers
    Centrimil centraxial blowers have an impeller that, unlike the centrifugal blower, achieves a substantial portion of conversion of velocity energy to pressure energy within the impeller itself. It is operated with a scroll so air enters axially and exits tangentially, making a 90 degree turn. Models are available with 50/60 and 400 Hz AC or brushless DC motors.
    Centrimil centraxial wheel blowers develop high pressure and volume performance at low rotational speeds than vaneaxial fans for quieter cooling of tightly packaged electronic equipment under severe environmental conditions in airborne, ground based, and shipboard applications.
  • Model R Type 201 Radial
    Model R simplex radial blade blowers (2") are compact, sturdy, and relatively light in weight, designed for development of high static pressures. Simplex blowers have a single impeller wheel and are available for either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation. As with all radial blade blowers, air enters axially and exits tangentially, making a 90 degree turn. Models are available with 50/60 or 400 Hz AC or brushless DC motors.

    Model R simplex radial blade blowers (4.5") are compact, sturdy, and relatively light in weight, designed for development of high static pressures. As with all radial blade blowers, air enters axially and exits tangentially, making a 90 degree turn. Models are available with 50/60 or 400 Hz AC or brushless DC motors

  • Multistage Blowers
    Multistage designs range in size from 8 to 14 inch diameters. They employ the principle of several radial blade wheels mounted on a single shaft to develop uniquely high pressure-to-volume ratios at low rotational speeds by cascading pressurized air from one wheel to the next. Unusually compact and light in comparison to conventional multistage turbines, these blowers operate quietly and efficiently and contain no sliding or reciprocating parts. Models are available with 50/60 or 400 Hz AC motors.

ROTRON® ‘CP’ Regenerative Blowers
Offer Unprecented Corrosion Resistance

ROTRON® “CP” regenerative blowers offer extremely high resistance to corrosion and chemicals encountered in the most demanding chemical processing applications. Their proprietary surface finish combined with optimized performance technology deliver key advantages for vent header off-gassing, spot source, bio-gas and/or landfill gas, and scrubber applications, among others.

ROTRON “CP” blowers benefit from the unique Chem-Tough™ finishing process, which converts their aluminum casting to a highly advanced plastic/ceramic surface creating unprecedented resistance to corrosion and chemicals, abrasion resistance equivalent to steel, increased hardness, and permanent dry lubricity.

These oil-free and low-noise blowers employ regenerative air technology to develop ideal air pressures and vacuums without the higher energy and maintenance costs typically associated with larger multi-stage or positive air-displacement blowers and compressors.

They supply clean, oil-free air; incorporate few moving parts (minimizing wear, tear, maintenance, and downtime); feature sealed blower assemblies for minimum leakage; and incorporate chemical duty motors with 303 Series stainless steel shafts for added corrosion resistance.

ROTRON “CP” blowers can achieve flows up to 1000 SCFM; pressures up to 230 IWG; and vacuums up to 174 IWG, depending on blower style. Standard blowers can be customized and augmented with optional accessories to satisfy particular application requirements.

Fans (to military specifications)
  • Brushless Fans
    Brushless DC Fans and Impeller Style Blowers offer multi-speed aerodynamic performances for all types of high airflow applications. Our standard designs come with fully integrated electronics and are available in various input voltages including 12 and 24 VDC (13.8 and 27.6 VDC). Environmentally resistant designs are also available for those applications that may require exposure to natural elements. With airflow exceeding 1900 CFM, these products combine the long life expectations of brushless DC products with maximum cooling and air moving capability.
  • Direct Drive Fans
    AMETEK Airscrew has developed a range of mechanically driven fans for cooling systems in aerospace applications. Both mixed flow and axial fan types can be offered, providing extremely high performance together with robustness and low weight. A number of drive options are supported: these include belt drive from an engine or gearbox; shaft drive, via a splined quill shaft; or direct drive via a high precision, spur gear. AMETEK Airscrew can also offer a complete system including a fan, heat exchanger and all associated ductwork. We are experienced in working with the airframer to fully integrate the system into the aircraft, thereby ensuring optimum performance.
  • AMETEK Airscrew’s design capability encompasses the following elements:

    • Aerothermal design including modelling of the system geometry and aerodynamic losses
    • Calculation of the cooling element core mass flow and pressure drop to determine heat dissipation
    • Optimization of the system for minimum losses/maximum fan efficiency
    • Detailed design of the impeller and cooler packaging
    • Detailed design of the casing, mounting and airframe interfaces to ensure mechanical integrity in high vibration applications

  • AMETEK Airscrew direct Drive Fans are designed for cooling of engine or gearbox oil. We currently produce a number of systems for a variety of rotary wing apllications.

  • Tubeaxial Fans
    Thin profile fans especially suited to electronics cooling with a wide range of airflow to 500 CFM / 235 l/s, at generally low pressure unless driven at high motor speeds. Available with 60 & 400 Hz AC and brushless DC motors.

  • Small Vaneaxial Fans
    Compact axial flow fans 3" or less in diameter, with both rotating impeller and stationary aerodynamic vanes to develop pressure for tightly packed electronic box cooling. Best suited for high speed operation with 400Hz AC or brushless DC motors.

  • Large Vaneaxial Fans
    Compact axial flow fans up to 13.8" / 350mm diameter, with both rotating impeller and stationary aerodynamic vanes to develop both high flow to 2300 CFM / 1085 l/s and high pressure where space and weight are at a premium. Available with 60, 400, & variable Hz AC and brushless DC motors.

  • Mixed Flow Vaneaxial Fans
    The characteristics of a mixed flow fan combine the high flow of an axial fan with the high pressure of a centrifugal. It provides a solution where combined high pressure and flows are a requirement. The geometry of a mixed flow fan provides a negligible stall characteristic and is ideally suited to applications such as cooling densely packed electronic equipment, or systems having high or variable resistance such as filters. Also because of the impeller geometry mixed flow fans produce less noise compared to axial fans, making them ideal for use in crew or passenger areas.

    High performance engine cooling fans to meet the requirements of the latest military vehicles.

  • Propeller Fans
    High flow to 1640 CFM / 755 l/s, low pressure axial flow airmovers most suitable for land based electronic cabinet or compartment ventilation. Available with either AC or brushless DC motors.

  • Brushless DC Motors
    Motor selection is made easy with the wide variety of products available from AMETEK. Six different motor families are available in standard configurations. These include 1.7" (43mm), 2.5" (64mm), 3.0" (76mm), 3.55" (90mm), 3.9" (99mm), 5.25" (133mm) diameter motors, with continuous torque which ranges from 2.5 oz. in. (1.77 Ncm) to 832 oz. in. (587 Ncm) and horsepower ratings of 0.014 to 2.20. Voltage options are from 12 VDC to 74 VDC. The table below provides a summary of the motor products, operating voltages, speed and torque ranges sorted by motor diameter.   • Brushless Slotless Motors
    These small, powerful slotless brushless DC motors outperform traditional motors where efficiency, size, power, heat, low EMI, low vibration, and noise are factors. They are ideally suitable for a wide variaty of high performance applications such as medical, business machine, marine, HVAC, appliance, motion control, and other technical and industrial products.

  • Brush Motors
    Motor selection is made easy with the wide variety of products available from AMETEK. Many different motor families are available in standard configurations. These motors range in torque from 0.8 oz. in. (.568 Ncm) to 50.0 oz. in. (35.5 Ncm). Voltage options are from 6.00 VDC to 76.40 VDC.   • Stepper Motors
    Motor selection is made easy with the wide variety of products available from AMETEK. Many different motor families are available in standard configurations.   • Military Vehicle Motors
    AMETEK motor designs include compact and powerful permanent magnet brushed DC motors and incorporate advanced materials for high power/size (power density) ratio. Airscrew's brushless DC motors are widely recognised for their reliability and durability and for all the benefits of tailored performance resulting from controlled speed.
    Established product lines include motors for turret indexing, gun elevation, pumps, compressors and actuator drives for armoured doors. Output power ranges from 20W up to 15kW. Output torque ranges up to 50Nm. Fixed and variable speed options are available with maximum speeds up to 24,000 rpm. Other options include fixed and variable speed, variable voltage armature control and totally enclosed motors with output drive shafts to suit individual applications.

  • Aerospace Motors
    AMETEK have a wide range of existing motors covering a number of applications including propeller feathering, standby generators, flap actuation and hydraulic pump drives. Airscrew's experienced enginerering team offers the option of customising our existing designs, or offering original state-of-the-art solutions to specific requirements.

  • Aerospace Generators
    AMETEK can also design and manufacture air and oil-cooled AC and DC electrical generating systems and emergency power systems. The same advanced magnetic materials are used for minimum size and mass whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality and reliability required by the aerospace industry.

  • Pumps
    Seal-Less Brushless Water Circulating Pumps offer three basic pump/motor designs from 12 GPM to 26 GPM in either 12 VDC or 24 VDC motor designs. Variable speed is available for the 12 GPM pump. The seal-less pump design is magnetically coupled which provides for a leak-proof pump. There are no rotating wet seals to wear out and leak. Detailed pump information is provided on the individual product sheets. AMETEK seal-less pumps are not designed for, and should not be used in, life sustaining applications.

  • Controllers
    All AMETEK brushless DC motors and blowers require a motor/blower controller to operate. Many of these AMETEK BLDC motors and blowers feature a built in, integrated controller that takes the DC input from a power supply or battery and processes it into phase drive signals that are used to commutate the motor.
    Motors and blowers that require low voltage DC input (11 to 52 volts) that do not come equipped with an integrated, onboard controller, require one of the external controllers described in this section.
