- Electrolytic capacitors support high voltage applications that demand extended load life
Reduced case size NRE-WB aluminum electrolytic capacitors from NIC Components Corp are ideal for
use in electronic ballasts for fluorescent lighting and other high voltage applications that require elevated temperature, extended load life performance. The greater efficiency of fluorescent lighting – which is able to convert approximately 25% of its energy to light versus just 5% achieved by filament lighting – coupled with an ongoing drive towards greater efficiency, has created a large and growing market for electronic lighting
ballasts.
NRE-WB miniature radial leaded devices have a high ripple current rating of up to 2.0A (100KHz, +105degC), and are available with capacitance values from 10uF to 220uF and voltage ratings from 200VDC to 450VDC. Extended load-life, of up to 10,000 hours, at high temperature makes NRE-WB capacitors suitable for applications where the replacement of components may be difficult or cost prohibitive. A wide operating temperature range of
–25°C to +105°C enables the new capacitor series to give stable, reliable performance in applications where high temperatures are present such as fluorescent lighting or in densely packed high voltage power supplies. Case sizes range from 10mm x 20mm up to 18mm x 31.5mm depending upon rated voltage and capacitance value.
- Ultra-stable performance from thin film lead-free
chip resistor series
The NTR series of high precision thin film construction chip resistors are now available from NIC Components Corp. Featuring ultra-stable (10PPM ~ 50PPM) resistance value change (TCR) over wide temperature and low noise figure, these resistors are ideal for precision applications, including telecommunications, automotive, medical, audio and test instrumentation.
These high precision, lead-free devices have a resistance value tolerance range of just 0.1% to 0.5%, and a operating temperature range of –55ºC to +125ºC. These devices have nickel chromium (NiCr) sputtered, thin film resistive element on alumina substrate construction. The wrap-around terminations with nickel barrier and tin finish are compatible with established tin-lead and emerging lead-free soldering processes.
The NTR series is available in case sizes from 0402 to 2512. Resistance values range from 1ohm to 1Mohm, and working voltages from 25V to 150V. Parts are supplied on a 8mm carrier tape for automatic pick and place assembly.

- Reduced case size Radial Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors feature ultra-low impedance and wide temperature range performance
NRSZC series miniature aluminum electrolytic capacitors from NIC Components Corp provide low impedance, high ripple current ratings across a wide temperature range. This new series of polarized, radial leaded devices are suitable for use in a wide range of applications including switching power supplies, voltage regulator modules and DC-DC converters.
NRSZC capacitors provide improved performance for applications that use NIC’s established NRSZ series. Covering capacitance range of 47µF to 18,000µF and rated voltage values of 6.3VDC to 35VDC means that an NRSZC capacitor can be found to suit most application.
Life expectancy of up to 7,000 hours, an operating temperature range of -55ºC to +105ºC, and high stability at low temperatures makes NRSZC capacitors a good choice for the growing number of applications that require operation in long life - high temperature environments. Case sizes range from 5mm diameter x 11mm to 18mm diameter x 41mm.
- Surface mount capacitors provide long-life operation in high temperature, high density applications
The newly introduced NACHL series of surface mount aluminum electrolytic capacitors from NIC Components Corp feature extended life at high temperature. Devices are housed in miniature cylindrical cases (V-chips) making them ideal for use in low profile designs with high component densities.
NACHL capacitors are available with voltage ratings of between 10VDC and 100VDC and capacitance values that range from 0.47uF to 330uF. - Ultra-Stable Ceramic Chip Capacitors suit Bluetooth Applications
NIC Components, one of the leading names in the passive components market, has added a new range of low ESR multilayer ceramic chip capacitors to its portfolio of products. With ESR as low as 0.30 ohm for capacitance values of between 22pF and 47pF at 500MHz, the NMC-L series is ideally suited to high speed, high frequency applications such as those found in Bluetooth products.
Manufactured using ultra stable, low loss NPO/COG dielectric, the devices are available with values ranging from 0.5pF to 47pF. Both 50V dc and 100V dc rated parts are available. A broad operating temperature range of -55degC to +125degC makes them suitable for use in most environments. Capacitance stability is also very high with a figure of 0+/-30ppm/degC quoted across the temperature range.
Many wireless and Bluetooth designs are housed in extremely small enclosures. The NMC-L range is offered in both 0603 and 0805 case sizes making placement easy in such applications where printed circuit boards can be extremely densely populated. An even smaller 0402 version is currently in development (AVAILABLE NOW!).
Nickel barrier terminations and stringent quality controls in the Manufacturing process mean that NMC-L ceramic chip capacitors have excellent mechanical strength. This is particularly important in portable communications applications where equipment has to meet tough vibration and drop test specifications. Supplied in tape and reel packaging, the NMC-L range is compatible with both reflow and flow (0805 & 0603 sizes) soldering processes.
- Chip inductors combine inductance values up to 4.7µH with miniature packaging to save space in high-current designs
