Synchronous motors are constant-speed motors that operate in absolute synchronism with line frequency. Hansen manufactures Hysteresis and Permanent Magnet synchronous motors.

Geared Hysteresis Synchronous Motors
The hysteresis design, is extremely quiet and smooth in operation and has very low cogging torque, ideal for back-driving. Because it is light in torque, it is always attached to a Hansen ultra precision gearbox.

The patent-pending Whisper Motion™ air brake has been developed for the HVAC industry and is utilized in our ultra-quiet spring return damper actuators. Our air brake is also available on any geared Synchron hysteresis motor and can be used in any spring return type application.

Stepper Motors

Stepper or step motors offer many advantages. Although feedback is not usually required, stepper motors are compatible with feedback signals, either analog or digital. Error is noncumulative as long as pulse-to-step integrity is maintained by the step motor. A stream of pulses can be counted into stepper motors, and the stepper motor's final position will be known within a small percentage of one step.

DC Permanent Magnet Motors

Hansen Permanent Magnet DC Motors have unique performance advantages that make them the best choice for simple, high efficiency DC drives and servo motors. Hansen Permanent Magnet DC Motors feature die cast endbells and ball bearings for long life and optimized heat transfer. Custom windings can be tailored to your specific needs and Encoders and electrical noise suppression can be added, if required.

NMB-MAT DC Permanent Magnet Motors feature lifetime lubricated sintered bronze bearings and built-in electrical noise suppression. However, it is the low audible noise on the majority of NMB-MAT's motor line that really sets them apart from other Asian manufacturers. The new SE series motors use a four pole design with rare earth magnets to achieve the highest output power per cubic inch available in any mass produced motor.

Geared Brush DC Motors

Hansen's line of DC gear motors features a Permanent Magnet DC Motor mounted on Hansen's Synchron gear train. These DC electric motors are available in five mounting configurations and a wide range of gear ratios. This high-efficiency, low-cost DC electric motor design features permanently lubricated sintered bearings and long life brushes.
