Products
- Clock Oscillators
Quartz Crystal Oscillator is a timing device consisting of quartz crystal and an oscillation circuit to generate an output waveform at specified frequency
- Crystals
Crystal Oscillators are oscillators where the primary frequency determining element is a quartz crystal. Because of the inherent characteristics of the quartz crystal, the crystal oscillator may be held to extreme accuracy of frequency stability. Temperature compensation may be applied to crystal oscillators to improve thermal stability. Crystal oscillators are usually fixed frequency oscillators where stability and accuracy are the primary considerations.
- Crystal Filters
Device used to suppress spurious noise generated by digital equipment; also used to prevent external noise from being mixed with the signal. Monolithic crystal filters are relatively simple 2-pole devices including more complex, multipole units up to 10 pole response. They have many advantages such as compact size, high temperature stability, and high reliability.
- Bandpass Filters / Duplexers
Bandpass filters are used to select desired frequencies and reject other frequencies as efficiently as possible.
Duplexers allow a transmitter operating on one frequency and a receiver operating on a different frequency to share one common antenna with a minimum of interaction and degradation of the different RF signals.
- OCXOs
A high stability ovenized oscillator is the most stable of all crystal oscillators, providing 10 to 100 times better stability than a TCXO. The crystal and its associated circuitry are held to a specific temperature within a very tight tolerance through the use of a proportional oven and control circuit. A proportional oven is an electronic servo system which continuously supplies power to the oven. It continuously compensates for ambient temperature changes by varying the amount of oven power. Ovenized oscillators are also used in applications where phase noise is critical.
- Programmable Clocks
Crystal controlled oscillators where the frequency is set by using fundamental crystals. Raltron uses a proprietary design and Manufacturing technique to provide its customers with a complementary alternative and short lead time solution to fixed frequency devices.
- Resonators
Ceramic Resonator uses the mechanical resonance of piezoelectric ceramics to generate an output waveform at specified frequency. RC oscillation circuits and LC oscillation circuits are also used to produce electrical resonance. They have many advantages such as high stability of oscillation frequency, small configuration, light weight, low price, and they are non-adjustable.
- SAW Devices
Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are recognized for their versatility and efficiency in controlling and processing electrical signals, such as filters and resonators. There are specialized high performance signal processing SAW devices for satellite communication and military applications, such as radar and electronic warfare
- Synchronization Modules
Raltron's production line for synchronization modules is developed and implemented to support the hardware-software design concept.
The finished good and all the oscillators on board are serialized. Full traceability is insured by serializing the software linked modules as well. Software revision and release control procedures are strictly observed.
Extensive functionality and performance tests are part of the production routing. Our state of the art testing equipment and test systems, developed to support the design sophistication of synchronization modules, provide a full set of test data for our customers.
- TCXOs
TCXO is an acronym for Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator. This oscillator compensates the natural temperature sensitivity of the crystal. In general, a network of compensating components is used to either directly (thermistor / capacitor) or indirectly (thermistor / varactor) change the oscillator frequency so it maintains the desired level of performance.
The benefits of the TCXO include: (1) better temperature performance than a clock oscillator: (2) smaller size, less costly, no warm-up lime required and less input power required than an OCXO.
- PLL Synthesizers
Voltage Controlled Oscillator. Ideally suited for the requirements of Wireless, GPS, Instrumentation and VHF/UHF-Radio. This new family of Voltage Controlled Oscillators provides the design engineer with an extremely broad choice of physical packaging and electrical specifications in both standard and custom requirements.
- VCXOs
A VCXO or voltage controlled crystal oscillator is a crystal oscillator with a control element added that allows the oscillator Frequency to be controlled by an external voltage. The control element is typically a varactor diode. On our standard family of 14 pin dip package VCXO the control voltage is applied to pin 1.
Applications
- Digital Audio Broadcasting
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is revolutionizing how the world listens to music, news, sports, traffic/weather and local content. Many similar acronyms abound such as DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), DAR (Digital Audio Radio), DRB (Digital Radio Broadcasting), and DSB (Digital Sound Broadcasting). Whether designing equipment for in-band on channel (IBOC) or out of band (OBOC) circuits, Eureka-147, USADR, or ISDB-TN standards, engineers require robust and only the highest quality frequency components to discriminate and lock a satellite or terrestrial signal at possibly high speed and in a variety of environments.
Raltron is proud to offer the RSF-38.912-15000-9148-TR Band Pass Filter for just this purpose. It's low profile, small footprint, and strong attenuation of unwanted signals were selected specifically for the rigorous demands DAB places on frequency components
- Bluetooth
With the rise of mobile communications and the ever-increasing number of connected devices in the office and home, Bluetooth wireless technology has been designed to eliminate the need for cables within local environments.
- Fiber Optic
In today's expanded era of the data communication - Internet world, the need to support heavy load and high speed of video/data transmission is an essential requirement. Optical Networks, such as SONET/SDH, are most common infrastructures that support this heavy load of traffic data. As the network's speed increases the transmission frequency increase at the same proportion while the requirements to maintain low transmission noise are still applicable. In reality, high capacity transmitting systems are more susceptible to noise, due to high rate of transmission, and a special care is required when integrating such systems. In order to maintain low noise and transmission quality, each network must utilizes an internal frequency source with a low jitter capabilities and/or ability to clean recovered network reference signal following the clock recovery process. Raltron Electronics Corporation offers number of time and frequency products that supports optical transmission network requirement;
- Gigabit Ethernet
The accelerating growth of LAN traffic is pushing network administrators to look for higher speed network technologies to meet the demand for more bandwidth. Among the high speed LAN technologies being developed today, Gigabit Ethernet seems the most compelling. It offers compatibility with all previous versions of Ethernet (i.e., 10BASE-T, 100BASE-T)
It provides a smooth, non-disruptive evolution to 1Gbps at a lower cost than alternative solutions. It also has the added advantage of lower cost because it can leverage existing equipment, management tools and training. The current Gbps Ethernet technology is defined in the IEEE802.3Z standard.
Raltron has the technology
and engineering expertise to meet your Gigabit Ethernet application requirements.
Oscillators for Gigabit Ethernet applications require low jitter clock sources. Raltron Electronics has developed a complete family of 3rd Overtone crystal oscillators to address this market.
These oscillators exhibit extremely low SSB phase noise and jitter for the demands of Gigabit Ethernet environments.
This family of oscillators are available on the packages shown on this page. Click on your package of interest to obtain a specification in Acrobat format.
- Oscillators For Synchronization Chipsets
Stratum 3 Clock Sources
Digital network connectivity is dependent upon the availability of a reliable synchronization source to provide a timing reference to the network elements.

- Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
With the adoption of IEEE802.11b standard, Wireless Local Area Networks are capable of enabling highly integrated voice, data and video communications. WLANs are breaking new ground by bringing interoperable, reliable and affordable wireless networks to the enterprise. These evaluations provide strong endorsements for the power of wireless networks as valuable complements to wired LANs (WLAN) chip sets that enable mobile connectivity products for home and office; analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for broadband access to wireless and wired Wide Area Networks (WANs); and power management products that enable 24x7 reliability in network servers, next generation PCs and information appliances.
